SahajaYoga Regional Seminar & Mahashivaratri Puja on 25th & 26th of February 2017 at, KBEES Durbar Hall, Kodungallur,Thrissur, Kerala

JAI SHRI MATAJI”

The seat of Sadashiva is on top of your head; but He’s reflected in your heart. Now, your brain is the Vitthala. So to bring Spirit to your brain means enlightenment of your brain. ‘Enlightenment of your brain’ means: the limited capacity of your brain has to become unlimited in its capacity to realize God. I will not use the word ‛understand’, but ‛to realize God’, how powerful He is, how miraculous He is, how great He is.

Shivaratri Puja Pandharpur, India
29 February 1984

Dear brothers and sisters,

With our hearts overflowing with pure joy and Nirmal love we, Kerala Sahajyoga Collectivity, have the honour of kindly inviting our Sahaj family from all over India to come and join us in celebrating Shri Shivaratri Puja 2017 to worship our Mother, Shree Mataji Nirmala Devi, in Her form of Sakshat Shri Shiva, in Kerala, God’s Own Country, from 25 to 26 February 2017, to expand our hearts and encompass the whole universe. May the Lord give us strength and that Source of attraction by which we give up all other attractions of all the pleasures, of joy, of ego, of everything that we think of and fall into the pure joy form of the ShivaTatwa – the principle of the pure eternal spirit.

The venue of Maha Shivratri puja has a special significance. The place is called Kodungallur, Thrissur. It is believed that Umamaheshwara once appeared in this place as Ardhanareeswara, where Vasuki (Serpent God and Holy Nagas (serpents)) stood guard. There is also a self-incarnated (Swayambhu) lingam here which is of 4-inch length, 12 inch diameter and in semi-circle form. Therefore the occasion of Shivaratri is celebrated in a grand way here.

We therefore, welcome you to this place of spiritual significance. Let us together jump into the ocean of doubtlessness and joy, at the feet of our Mother and enjoy its beautiful pearls of eternal experiences.

Tourist Places in Kerala

  1. Kerala Backwaters and Houseboats - THE PARADISE OF KERALA

The Backwaters of Alappuzha are the most popular tourist attraction in, a chain of canals extending about 1500 KMs, with a network of 44 rivers, lagoons and lakes. Most of the Kerala backwaters are naturally formed and some of the backwater canals are manmade.

  1. Athirapally and Vazhachal – Waterfalls

The two picturesque and majestic waterfalls, Athirapally and Vazhachal are located just five km apart, on the edge of the Sholayar forest ranges. The Athirapally falls join the Chalakudy river after plummeting down 80 ft. The cool spray that covers a large area near the falls makes Athirapally a scenic location. The picturesque Vazhachal waterfall is close to dense green forests and is a part of the Chalakudy River.

  1. Munnar - A hill station

Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. 1,600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. This flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years, will bloom next in 2018. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2,695 m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking.

  1. Silent Valley- National Park

Silent Valley is considered one of the most ecologically diverse areas on the planet. Lion tailed macaque, elephant, leopard, tiger, Nilgiri thar, Malabar giant squirrel. Variety of other large mammals including deer, gaur etc. Large population of birds like hornbills, malabar whistling thrush etc. The place is teeming with the more "common" birds like drongos, tailorbirds, spotted dove, koels etc.

  1. Thekkady – Wild Life sanctuary

India 's largest wildlife sanctuary is a dream destination for any tourist visiting India .The 120 years old 'Surki' dam built across Peryiar, Poorna in Vedic parlance, is a major tourist attraction. This sanctuary is spread over an area of 777 Sq.Kms, surrounded by an artificial lake over an area of 25 Sq.Kms.The Country's sole Tiger reserve, Thekkady, with its bountiful treasures of tropical flora and fauna is the ultimate reservoir of many an endangered species and a rich tribal culture. Thekkady is a pleasant heaven on earth for those who love nature in its wild manifestations.

  1. Kanyakumari

Kanniyakumari (or Kanyakumari) is a town on the southern most tip of the main land of India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Cape Comorin.

The southernmost point of India, Kanyakumari is a small town located at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. For a long time it has been a significant site in India both spiritually and more recently as a day tripping excursion from Kerala. Famous Indian poet and philosopher, though probably unknown to most foreigners, Swami Vivekananda spent long periods of time meditating here and resultantly has a large monument erected to him just off the shoreline. Mahatma Gandhi also visited Kanyakumari and another prominent attraction is a mausoleum dedicated to him in the form of an Orissa Sun Temple. A rare phenomenon and depending on the weather, at certain times of the year the setting sun and rising moon can be witnessed in the twilight.

The oldest and the most ancient landmark in this town is the temple of Goddess Kumari who prayed to Lord Shiva to be accepted as wife by him.

Shri Mataji visited Kanyakumari during 1979 and stood in the seashore, we can see the mandapam where Shri Mataji viewed the Vivekananda Rock.

The southernmost end of the mainland of Indian subcontinent Kanyakumari unique in itself for being amongst the very few places in the country where you could watch a sunrise and also a sunset sitting in the very same spot.

  1. Kalady – Birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya

Adi Shankaracharya’s birthplace is at Kaldy in Kerala. Kalady means footprint in local language Malayalam. According to the legend AdiShankara saw her mother fainting one day as she walked 3 kms everyday to fetch water from Periyar river. He prayed to Lord Krishna who asked him to set his footprints where he wants the river to flow .Hence the name Kalady(foot print). Adi Shankara propagated Advaita philosophy of Hinduism. He is the son of Siviguru & Aryamba.

The "Muthala Kadavu," or Crocodile Ghat, is where Sankara's life turned to Sanyasam (Ascetic life). His mother, Aryadevi, did not agree with his desire to become a Sanyasin. Legend says that one day, Sankara was touched by a dog and, as per custom followed by the community, Sankara had to take bath. Accompanied by mother, Sankara went to river Poorna to bathe. While in the water, a crocodile caught hold of his leg. The drowning Sankara told his mother that the crocodile would leave him alone if she would allow him to take up Sanyasa. Helpless, his mother agreed, and the crocodile freed Sankara.

Thou art residing in secrecy with Thy Lord (the spirit)

in the thousand petalled Lotus, having pierced through
the Earth situated at Mooladhara,
the water in the Manipura,
the Fire abiding in the Swadhishtana,
the Air in the Heart (Anahata)
the Ether above (Vishuddha)
and Manas between eyebrows (Agyna)
and thus broken the entire kula path
